LIBRARY BUILDING PROGRAMMING AND SPACE PLANNING

Whether your requirements include new library construction, building expansion, remodeling or renovation, Providence Associates can help with all aspects of library building projects. Services cover consulting about library buildings, architect selection, site selection, space analysis, writing building programs, and recommendations for library furnishings and equipment. We work in concert with libraries, architects and interior designers to define, explain and refine the unique building and space planning requirements of libraries.


LIBRARY EXPERIENCE

With a goal of optimizing services for library customers and enhancing the customer experience, Providence Associates consults and advises on both the human, technological and operational aspects of meeting customer needs. Initial research may involve customer satisfaction surveys with focus on the user experience, library service assessment and organizational analysis leading to proposals for staff development, library collection management, automation, library technology and master facilities planning. We have a team of associates with expertise in addressing the issues of "transformation” via a holistic and a targeted approach focusing on specific needs of your community (e.g. serving “new Americans;” children from infants to pre-teens, teens, families, young professionals, active adults 55+ and local small businesses. COMMUNITY ANALYSIS AND ENGAGEMENT

Insuring the best possible Library experience requires every library to know its customers and to engage those customers in any planning related to changes in services and spaces. Communities are in a state of constant change. Providence Associates assists libraries in identifying those changes and what they mean in terms of services and facilities. We then, engage residents and target populations in focus groups, town hall meetings, interviews, surveys, etc. to identify their library related experience, needs and expectations and determine which those that are most important and valuable to them. We work with local governments and demographers to project changes in populations in number, age breakdown, education levels attained, household income, ethnicity, households with children, etc.


STRATEGIC PLANNING & VISIONING

Providence Associates assists libraries with strategic planning using demographic analysis, community needs assessments, and the design and implementation of customer surveys. Strategic Plans are then developed in response to this information incorporating “library best practices and trends” along with issues of management, budgeting, staffing, etc.


With Providence Associates consulting is a highly collaborative and inclusive  not a “rote” process.
